Restores the colour and appearance of dull and faded surfaces

Owatrol Gelcoat and Surface Restorer is a deep penetrating oil formulated to restore the colour and appearance of gelcoat, plastic and metal surfaces. This makes it well suited for use on boat hulls, desks, portholes, rigging, masts, spars, car bumpers, tiles and more.

The restorer penetrates the gelcoat surface deeply, which helps to re-wet the pigment that may have become dull or faded due to exposure to the elements.

The product is easy to apply using a cloth or a soft brush, and dries in just 10 minutes. It can be used on horizontal and vertical surfaces, and even on fibreglass (GRP) surfaces.

After application, the restorer dries to form a tough, long-lasting, and flexible finish that can withstand environmental factors including UV rays and weathering.

The restorer eliminates the need for traditional surface treatments such as waxes and polishes. Waxes and polishes can often sit on the surface and wear off quickly, whereas Gelcoat Restorer penetrates and provides longer-lasting results.

The product should not be used on white surfaces, as it is specifically designed to restore pigmented surfaces. White surfaces do not have pigments to revive, so the product would not be effective in this case.

Surface preparation:

- Ensure that the surface is clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, grime, and mildew. Remove all traces of waxes, polishes, silicone, or similar coatings thoroughly.

- If mildew is present, create a solution by mixing bleach and water in a 50:50 ratio. Scrub this solution onto the affected areas and allow it to sit for 10-15 minutes, then rinse the surface thoroughly.

- Clean the surface using warm soapy water or a specialised deck cleaner. Rinse it thoroughly and allow it to dry for a minimum of 24 hours, depending on the type of surface.

Application:

- Divide your work area into sections that can be completed within 10-20 minutes to ensure an even appearance.

- Apply Gelcoat Restorer to the surface evenly. If the product is absorbed unevenly, with some areas appearing shiny while others are matte, redistribute any excess oil from the shiny areas to the matte ones.

- Wipe off any excess product off with a lint-free cloth before it starts to become tacky. For a shinier finish, you can buff the surface with a lint-free polishing cloth.

Maintenance:

- Perform maintenance when you notice signs of fading on a Gelcoat Restorer-treated surface. Follow the same preparation and application steps as outlined above.

Clean up:

- Clean any tools or equipment used in the application with white spirit. It's important to note that rags, steel wool, or similar materials soaked in Gelcoat Restorer can potentially catch fire if not disposed of properly. After use, saturate such materials with water or place them in a sealed, water-filled metal container before disposing of them with household waste. Rags can be laid flat and air-dried before disposal.

Additional information:

Apply Gelcoat Restorer in temperatures between +5°C and +35°C. Avoid direct sunlight and hot surfaces during application.

Do not allow excess Gelcoat Restorer to dry and create a film on the surface; always remove any surplus product.
